Wow, they've really should add this beast into Skyrim forests.
(sorry, I've just been playing it lately )

Did you use liquify tool "solo" or some color brush strokes were additionally applied? (in all probabilities, I would assume last one, but... well, who knows all the possibilities and potential of a single photoshop's instrument taken in hands of skillful lad)
Anywho, very nice effect: from realistic looking elements of picture to something, uh, sticky or, more like, ghosty thing, formed with very thick mist (which looks in some way abstract, yet somehow doesn't get itself into contradiction with photographic realism of background at all)
